The Evolution of the LWVRS Neck Label

Some of the smallest details take the longest to perfect. Over five iterations, the LWVRS neck label evolved through subtle refinements in construction, comfort and design. Each version brought us closer to the standard we were working towards. This is the journey behind one of the smallest details on every LWVRS garment.

 

 

 

Sample 01

The first neck label marked the beginning of the journey. At this stage, the LWVRS logo was still being refined and the label was stitched on all four sides. While it helped bring the garment to life, the finish on the reverse wasn't in line with the standard we wanted to achieve. The process of refinement had only just begun. 

 

 

 

Sample 02

The second iteration brought us closer. The label became longer, with stitching reduced to the sides for a cleaner finish, and the correct LWVRS logo was introduced for the first time. We also tested an integrated size label, but it felt too prominent and took attention away from the simplicity we were trying to achieve. Another step forward–but there was still more to refine.

 

 

 

Sample 03

The third iteration focused on simplicity. The size label was removed and the stitching hidden behind a folded construction for a cleaner finish. While visually improved, the folded label introduced unnecessary thickness against the neck, and the logo proportions still weren't where we wanted them to be. Refinement continued. 

 

 

 

Sample 04

The fourth iteration introduced a cotton neck label in place of the woven construction used previously. Although it created a softer feel, the material lacked the premium appearance we wanted, and the printed logo proportions still weren't quite right. It confirmed we were close–but not quite there.

 

 

 

Final Sample

The fifth and final iteration became the production label. Returning to a woven construction allowed us to achieve the premium finish we had been working towards, without compromising on comfort. With refined logo proportions and discreet stitching at the two upper corners, every detail finally felt complete. This is the label that will appear on every LWVRS garment.
